What steps should I take if my iPhone gets water damaged?

Apple devices built after 2006 have built-in liquid contact indicators. View the liquid contact indicator with a lighted magnifying glass to determine if your iPhone has been damaged.

Step 1: Act fast, remove your iPhone from water or liquid immediately.

Step 2: Power down. Turn off the device if possible.

Step 3: Remove excess water, wipe down with a cloth to remove visible water/liquid.

Step 4: Eject Liquids. Gently tap the charging port and speakers with the phone in an upright position.

Step 5: Air it out. Let it dry in a well-ventilated and dry place for 48-72 hours. Do not attempt to charge it until completely dry.
